Al-Qaeda vows revenge for Osama’s killing
Al-Qaeda has confirmed the death of its former chieftain Osama Bin Laden, according to a statement attributed to the terrorist group and posted on jihadist internet websites.
The statement vowed revenge upon the U.S. and its allies and warned that Osama’s blood will not be wasted.
Al Qaeda further said that his death will become a “curse” upon the U.S. and also called for a major uprising in Pakistan.
[Osama's blood] will remain, with permission from Allah, the Almighty, a curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries, it warned.
Their happiness will turn into sorrow, and their blood will be mixed with their tears. We call upon our Muslim people in Pakistan, on whose land Sheikh Osama was killed, to rise up and revolt.
The statement also noted that al Qaeda operatives will release an audiotape of a speech by Osama made a week prior to his death.
Meanwhile, several rallies are being held in Pakistan to protest the killing of Osama, who was murdered by US commandos in a military compound in the northern city of Abbottabad. Many in Pakistan are outraged that their government seemingly allowed the raid to occur on its soil (although Pakistani government officials claim they were unaware of the operation).
