Alan Thicke is gone, but not forgotten. The legendary actor died suddenly on Tuesday from a heart attack while playing hockey with his son.

Since news broke of his passing, friends, family and fans have been memorializing him on social media and beyond. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Robin Thicke said his father was “the greatest man I ever met.” He shared a final memory with the publication, revealing that the two had spent time together just days prior to his passing. The “Blurred Lines” singer added he felt as though Alan, 69 at the time of his death, “had closure.”

“I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him,” Robin said.

Similarly, ex-wife Gloria Loring recalled her former husband as being “talented, funny and deeply devoted.” She thanked fans for their show of love and support after news broke. Loring shared no further details about Alan’s death.

“Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke’s passing. It’s a shock,” she told Us Weekly. “We were all just together for Thanksgiving. He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest in Peace, dear one.”

David Hasselhoff, Justin Hartley, Ellen DeGeneres, John Legend, Justin Trudeau and more also paid tribute to Alan. Legend recalled getting close with the “Growing Pains” star through Robin, telling fans “he was always so kind to me.” Hartley, who stars in NBC’s “This is Us,” called Alan one of his “idols.”

According to Entertainment Toight, Alan was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter when he suffered a heart attack. The incident occurred at Pickwick Gardens ice rink in Burbank, California. Darin Mathewson, vice president of the skating rink, placed the call to 911 about Thicke’s condition. He told the publication the Canadian actor was vomiting, but was “coherent” when the call was placed.

Thicke is said to have asked his son to take a photo of him as paramedics loaded him into the ambulance. “He had Carter take a picture of him, and said, ‘Make sure you get the rink in the background’ as they were taking him out of here,” Mathewson told ET. “When he went by us, he gave us the thumbs up, like, ‘I’m doing good guys, I’m good.’”

Alan was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center on Tuesday. He leaves behind three children and his third wife, Tanya Callau.
