Alec Baldwin and daughter Ireland spoke out to defend Hilaria Baldwin after the latter drew flak over her allegedly fluctuating Spanish accent.
On Saturday, the “30 Rock” star took to Instagram to lash out at those who criticized his wife, saying that many social media users choose to attack anonymously so people feel they can say anything. Baldwin also said that these naysayers wanted to “spray it all over you, their venom and their hate.”
“There’s things that have been said lately about people that I love, that I care about deeply, which are ridiculous,” he said in the eight-minute video.
“You have to kind of hack your way through the debris of Twitter. Twitter is just a vast orchard of crap,” Baldwin continued.
Ireland also defended her stepmother in a series of videos on Instagram, describing Hilaria’s trolls as “sad and pathetic.” Baldwin’s daughter with ex Kim Basinger went on to praise the yoga instructor and called her a “good person.”
“She’s a caring person who has always respected my relationship with my dad and I have a great relationship with her. … Hilaria is a wonderful mother who takes great care of her kids and she takes great care of my dad and that’s really all that matters to me,” Ireland said.
Ireland left a thoughtful comment on Hilaria’s post on Instagram, wishing that people had the opportunity to get to know her and her story because she is an “incredible mom and an inspiration.” The 25-year-old then apologized to her stepmom for the criticisms she has been receiving during this terrifying time.
“I’m sorry that people are giving you such a hard time during a time that is already so f–king difficult for everyone in this world coping with the realities of Covid and being without family over the holidays and even losing family during the holidays due to this madness… I know who you are and I know what you are not and I’m lucky to know you for who you truly are,” Ireland wrote.
Hilaria recently trended on Twitter following a tweet from Leni Briscoe which read: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person.”
Twitter users noted that though she spoke with a Spanish accent in past TV interviews, Hilaria had an American accent in a video she posted last week.
The mom-of-five then explained Sunday that she was born in Massachusetts and admitted that her real name is Hillary. But she said that she grew up speaking both English and Spanish and is trying to raise her kids bilingual.
