Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have decided to temporarily live separately to keep their household safe from COVID-19.

Alec, 62, has been going back and forth to New York City while filming a project. Since he travels often, he decided to stay at a rental house in Amagansett about a mile away from his family home in the Hamptons, a source told Page Six. The insider added that he has been quarantining there.

Alec opened up about quarantining away from his wife and kids in December. He said doing it was not fun at all.

"I’m here in this guesthouse that’s near our house, that I’m staying in when I’m quarantining," he said in an Instagram video. "I go into New York and work a little bit and come back and have to quarantine here for a few days. It’s not a lot of fun."

Just recently, he was photographed leaving a Hamptons' Starbucks alone. Alec was carrying a cup of coffee and food during the sighting. His self-imposed quarantine started just after his wife was accused of faking her Spanish heritage.

Many criticized Hilaria for her "fake Spanish accent." They also slammed her for taking pride of her Spanish roots when she is actually from Boston and was known as Hillary when she was a student. The critics also stressed that her parents have no Spanish heritage and only live in Spain.

Hilaria clapped back at her critics and urged them to leave her alone. She also refused to apologize because she believed she didn't do anything wrong.

"Leave me alone. I'm not doing anything wrong by being me and maybe that doesn't look like somebody who you've met before, but I mean, isn't that the beauty of diversity?" she said. "There's nothing wrong with me and I'm not going to apologize for the amount of time that I spent in two countries and I'm not going to apologize for the fact that I speak two languages and I'm not going to apologize for the fact that I have two versions of my name."

Alec defended his wife from the critics on Instagram. He said the naysayers only wanted to "spray it all over you, their venom and their hate."
