A South Korean actor who appeared on the Netflix show "All of Us Are Dead" reportedly still takes on several part-time jobs to support his acting career.
Lim Jae-hyuk, who plays aspiring singer Yang Dae Su in the post-apocalyptic zombie drama, has three different side gigs to make ends meet despite the 27-year-old's success, former entertainment reporter Lee Jin Ho was cited as saying by Today.
"In order to become an actor, he gritted his teeth to survive every day and worked part-time as a construction worker, courier and delivery driver," Lee revealed in a YouTube video.
The former reporter said Lim is working multiple jobs for the American-South Korean e-commerce company Coupang, a report by The Philippine Star said.
While Lim has acted in movies, television dramas and musicals, the life of the Korea National University of Arts graduate is still "quite tough," according to Lee.
However, the former reporter said that Lim was one of the supporting actors in "All of Us Are Dead" who started to see success following their appearance in the series.
"In this production, it wasn’t just the main actors that have started to gain popularity, but the supporting actors as well. Among them is one particular actor who has been receiving the most attention, and it’s the acting god Lim Jae-hyuk," Lee said.
Lim's size and acting skills reportedly made him stand out among his peers.
"He showed off his presence with his big and reliable size that came in handy when fighting off the zombies. It wasn’t just his reliable visuals, but his solid acting skills that also gained attention," Lee said.
Lim put on 32 kilograms (71 pounds) for his role in "All of Us Are Dead," but he later lost around 25 kilograms (55 pounds) after filming ended.
The show ranked first on Netflix's daily top 10 list in the U.S. seven days after it premiered on Jan. 28, according to Deadline. "Squid Game," another South Korean Netflix series, accomplished the same feat four months ago.
The two shows' achievements made South Korea the first country to have multiple non-English language series dominate Netflix's U.S. daily top 10.
