Amal Clooney Does Not Have A Stylist, Says William Banks-Blaney, Founder Of William Vintage
Amal Clooney of late has been seen wearing a lot of designer gowns and dresses by William Vintage. The London-based vintage store is one of her favorites. The human rights lawyer is known to take fashion risks like her debut red carpet appearance at the 2015 Golden Globes after her wedding to Hollywood actor George Clooney in a pair of nearly elbow-length statement white gloves.
The 38-year-old was criticized for her fashion choice. The British-Lebanese lawyer paired the scrunched gloves stitched by her with a black Dior couture gown. Amal is not afraid to take fashion risks when it comes to her wardrobe.
William Banks-Blaney, founder of WilliamVintage, said in an exclusive interview with People that Amal does not have a stylist, and preferred to shop for her eclectic looks herself. “Amal chooses everything herself whether the more formal, professional or playful pieces,” he said. However, contrary to what Banks-Blaney said The Telegraph reported in May 2015 that the barrister had hired John Galliano’s long-time partner, Alexis Roche to be her stylist.
Meanwhile, Amal has been a customer of WilliamVintage boutique since 2015. Of late, the lawyer was spotted wearing lots of vintage looks. Amal wore a green draped Madame Gres dress from 1945 to speak at the Google Zeitgeist event in the UK in May. Then she opted for a cream Balenciaga coat dress from 1964, also from WilliamVintage, teamed with retro black shades during her visit to Rome with George, 55, to meet Pope Francis.
The first time Amal sported William Vintage was during the Berlin Film Festival in February. It was a black sequin Saint Laurent gown from 1981. The gown was made from silk and covered in 10,000 black micro-sequins and featured a transparent black tulle skirt which was personally picked by the fashionable lawyer. “Amal has impeccable taste and understands fashion perfectly, irrespective of whether the piece is from WilliamVintage or from the contemporary collections,” said Banks-Blaney.
A new e-commerce site was launched in May so that vintage fans could browse up to 1,000 unique pieces sourced from all over the globe at the click of their mouse. William Vintage has pieces dating from the 1920s through to the 1990s, which are sourced by Banks-Blaney himself for his London boutique. He has celeb clients like Rihanna, Kate Moss and Rachel Zoe.
