Amal Clooney Pregnancy Update: George Clooney Restricts Wife’s Travels To ‘Avoid Danger,’ Opens Up About Becoming A Dad
George Clooney and Amal Clooney are already proving to be protective parents even before the birth of their twins.
The 55-year-old actor revealed in a new interview that he and his wife, 39, agreed to restrict their travels while she’s pregnant in order to avoid any danger to their unborn children. The couple, who will welcome their twins in late spring, decided to be more cautious and avoid traveling to countries where they might not be welcome. “We decided to be much more responsible, to avoid the danger. I won’t go to South Sudan any more or the Congo, Amal will no longer go to Iraq and she’ll avoid places where she knows she isn’t welcome,” he told French magazine Paris Match.
While most couples would not need self-imposed travel restrictions, Clooney’s international human rights lawyer wife is often required to visit clients residing in dangerous countries. Just recently, Amal took on ISIS on behalf of her client Nadia Murad, a victim of human trafficking.
Previously, Amal told NBC in an interview that she and her husband had talked about the risks that came with taking on a case involving ISIS. “This is something I discussed with my husband before I would take on something like this … and we are aware of some of the risks involved,” she revealed.
Despite the possible dangers, he and his wife are excited about welcoming their first children. “Bringing a child into this world … even two! We are very happy, very excited, but also a bit nervous, it’s normal. I don’t know where this rumor comes from that we’re going to have a boy and a girl. We ourselves don’t know yet and don’t want to know,” he said.
Meanwhile, Clooney also shared his and Amal’s plans after welcoming their children. He told the magazine that they will be traveling a lot while the kids are young, but they will choose a country to settle down in once they are ready to attend school. “We have the chance to live between three countries: Italy, America and England,” he explained, referring to the houses he and Amal own. “But as soon as the children go to school, it’ll be necessary to choose where to settle. In the meantime, we will continue to move according to our respective schedules.”
Clooney’s friends are also happy for him and Amal. In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Clooney also dished on his friends’ reaction to the news that he was becoming a father for the first time. He shared that his “very supportive” friends gave him encouragement and said that he was going to be a great father. But he revealed that his pals, who already have adult kids who have gone off to college, couldn’t resist poking fun at him, adding, “Then it got really quiet, and they all just started making baby crying noises. And the whole table just busted up laughing.”
