Amal Clooney Spotted In New York Wearing White Sheath Dress And Jacket
Amal Clooney was spotted in New York City recently, looking chic in a white sheath dress and a matching jacket. The human rights lawyer was there in the city to address the UN Security Council on the issue of sexual violence.
Clooney wore a Zac Posen sheath dress and a matching jacket in New York City, ET Online reported. She completed the look with a bold red lip, a Michael Kors tan leather purse, beige sued heels and a pair of black cat-eye sunglasses. She wore her long hair with down, parted to the side.
Just a day before being spotted in the white dress, Clooney was at a UN Security Council meeting wearing a black William Vintage Balenciaga wool dress and wooden buttons. She addressed the delegates on behalf of Yazidi girls and women who were targeted by ISIS men.
Sitting next to Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad, who also spoke at the meeting, Clooney spoke out against sexual violence in war. A 13-minute video of her speech has been posted on the official YouTube channel of the United Nations.
Clooney thanked the German government for inviting her to speak at the meeting. She told the Security Council about how her client and friend Murad suffered at the hands of 12 different men when she was enslaved by ISIS. Murad’s mother and brothers were murdered by the members of the terrorist organization and also received threatening messages on her phone. The human rights lawyer pointed out that her friend never showed fear during all this time.
Murad’s concern now is that these ISIS men who have committed unspeakable atrocities will shave off their beards and return to normal life, without being held accountable for what they have done. As legal council to Murad and the other Yazidi women, Clooney said that her pursuit was about justice while the world powers were trying to look at military solutions.
The Security Council was voting on a resolution when Clooney spoke on the sexual violence in war. According to a report by BBC, the resolution was passed in a “diluted” form after President Donald Trump’s administration’s opposition to abortion.
