Amanda Bynes Reaches Plea Deal, Faces 3 Years Of Probation Over Suspended License Charges
Amanda Bynes has been placed on probation.
The 27-year-old actress agreed to a plea deal on Thursday over two pending misdemeanor counts of driving with a suspended license, Yahoo! omg! reports.
The plea deal was announced at Thursday’s Los Angeles Superior Court hearing in Burbank, Calif. Under the agreement, the former “All That” star will serve three years of probation and pay a $1,400 fine for the last year’s infractions. Bynes did not attend the hearing.
Bynes’ troubles began in March 2012, when she was pulled over for talking on her cell-phone while driving, only to flee the scene. A month later, she was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
Over the next few months, the troubled actress’ erratic driving led to several run-ins with local authorities. She was charged last September for a pair of hit-and-run accidents that occurred in April and August, resulting in the suspension of her license. Despite the suspension, Bynes continued to drive, leading to the infractions that were addressed in Thursday’s hearing.
Authorities had originally attempted to enact the deal in April, but it could not be completed because Bynes failed to sign the required paperwork. The actress’ DUI case is still pending.
Bynes’ legal troubles have paled in comparison to her recent bizarre behavior. The starlet’s racy Twitter posts and radical changes to her appearance have been the source of endless media speculation.
"People around Amanda are really concerned about her," a source told People magazine. "She tells people she doesn't party or drink. She doesn't realize she has a problem."
Still, the former child star seems comfortable with her current frame of mind.
“I have no clue [why people say I’m insane]. Every time I’ve heard it, it came from an ugly person’s mouth, so I don’t care,” Bynes told InTouch.
