AMAs 2017: Best And Worst Celebrity Red Carpet Looks
The best of the best in music were honored at the 2017 American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, which brought out celebrities from all avenues of entertainment.
Award show red carpets are an event all their own, which is why stars put so much effort into putting their looks together and trying to find what will work best for them. They have to find that perfect combination of being bold and adventurous while being stable and glam.
Some celebrities hit the mark last night, while others missed it completely. Here are the best and worst dressed from AMAs 2017.
Best
Selena Gomez
The “Wolves” singer debuted platinum blonde locks at the show, which contrasted perfectly with the moto-jacket minidress she was rocking. She topped the look off with simple eye makeup and a bit of a red lip.
Hailee Steinfeld
The “Pitch Perfect 3” star always knows what styles fit her right, goes for them and rocks them. This time, she chose an unbuttoned black suit over a black leather bustier with black heels. She slicked back her hair to complete the look.
Jenna Dewan Tatum
The actress-dancer donned a sheer gold Julien Macdonald dress with a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit. She wore Giuseppe Zanotti heels to finish the look.
Tracee Ellis Ross
The host of the show had many looks throughout the night, but red carpet look was one of the best. She stunned in a sequined burgundy Stella McCartney dress that had a high neck and long sleeves. She ended the look with a bright red lip and bold eyebrows.
Madeleine Petsch
The “Riverdale” actress looked edgy yet glam in a deep-v black dress with the bottom half partially see-through. She slicked back her hair in a middle part and a low ponytail with bold eye makeup and a nude lip.
Ciara
Sleek, glam and bold are the words that describe Ciara’s outfit choice. She wore an Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture dress that tied at the waist with matching stiletto boots and shiny, scrunch-waved hair.
Worst
Julia Michaels
The “Issues” singer wore a floor-length red gown that was comprised of multiple overflowing layers with a random cut-out just above her stomach along with sheer straps. It was a lot. Just all around a lot.
Lilly Singh
The fuchsia-colored dress was a nice color on Singh, but its style was a bit too much. One side was long-sleeve and the other was a detailed shoulder strap, while the one of side of the bottom was long and the other was short and detailed with ruching. The dress would’ve been better with either the top or the bottom having something interesting going on, not both.
Bebe Rexha
The singer wore a sheer black strapless dress that had a bit too much ruching going on. Plus, the random fringe at the bottom of the long dress didn’t help much either.
Rachel Platten
Platten wore a partially-sheer, black jumpsuit with stripes down the length of it and a wide, plunging neckline that was held together by a strip of sheer mesh. There was a lot happening with this number and had the stripes not been there or the neckline been different, then it might’ve worked. But it just didn’t.
