Amber Heard has admitted that she punched her ex-husband Johnny Depp in Los Angeles in March 2015. She said she did that to save her sister who apparently would have been pushed down the stairs by the actor.

On Tuesday, Eleanor Laws QC, who is representing Depp, confronted the "Aquaman" star about the stairs incident that happened way back in 2015. At the time, Heard physically attacked Depp and the former said she only acted that way to defend her sister.

"This was a very nasty row between you and Mr. Depp and it was you who was the violent one," the lawyer said as quoted by Deadline.

Laws reminded Heard how she punched Depp in the face with a closed fist during the incident. The actress admitted that she did punch him and shared that it was due to rumors she heard about Depp pushing an ex-girlfriend down the stairs.

“I did strike Johnny that day in defense of my sister. He was about to push her down the stairs and, the moment before that happened, I remembered information I had heard (that) he pushed a former girlfriend – I believe it was Kate Moss – down the stairs. I had heard this rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind,” Heard explained.

"In a flash I reacted in defense of her," Heard said before adding that Depp allegedly punched her "for years" and she never fought back.

“I never so much as landed a blow and I will never forget this incident… it was the first time after all these years (I hit him),” Heard added.

Laws played a clip of Heard's deposition in 2016 and told the actress that she never mentioned Moss. Heard explained that she didn't have the chance and added, "I’ve not had the liberty of time or space or energy even to list every thought that crossed my mind.”

The trial of Depp's libel case against NGN and The Sun continues. The "Fantastic Beasts" star is suing the tabloid for calling him a “wife-beater." Heard alleged that Depp was violent and abusive when they were together.

However, in a recorded audio that leaked earlier this year, she confessed that she hit Depp. She also taunted the actor to tell the public that he was the victim and see how many would believe him.
