Amber Heard's diary entry about an alleged "terrible" fight with Johnny Depp on a train in Southeast Asia during their honeymoon in 2015 was revealed in a London High Court on Tuesday.
Heard's diary was read aloud in court as lawyers questioned Depp's security guard, Malcolm Connolly, during the ongoing trial for the actor's libel case against the publisher of The Sun, NGN, and the U.K. tabloid's executive editor, Dan Wootton. Depp sued the parties over an article from The Sun that claimed he was physically abusive toward Heard — an allegation he has denied.
According to an entry on the actress' personal diary, the fight allegedly took place on the Eastern & Oriental Express in 2015. Heard wrote that she and Depp had been "walking zombies" after just three hours of sleep and a "terrible fight."
"Our fight was terrible," she wrote in her diary (via Deadline). "Johnny… at one point found himself with his shirt wrapped around my neck. Amazing to think about (the) precision, co-ordination that required considering the close circumstances."
"I don’t even know how I wound up with this huge, rather annoying knot on the back of my head. F--k, I hate that," she continued, adding, "We finally fell asleep with one another smashed together in desperate, childlike anger, fear and love."
In the security guard's witness statement, Connolly, who was present on the train journey, denied that an assault had taken place on the train. He said that he would have noticed injuries on Heard.
However, Connolly also admitted that he would never have known about the fight if it had happened in the early hours of the morning as he was about "three or four doors down" from the couple.
Connolly added that he would never let Depp attack Heard, saying he wouldn't tolerate any man striking a woman. The security guard, however, noted that he had "heard of" instances of Heard attacking Depp.
These details about the exes' tumultuous relationship were revealed on the sixth day of what is expected to be a three-week libel trial.
Depp and Heard got married in 2015, four years after their first meeting in 2011 on the set of "The Rum Diary." They got divorced a year later, and she donated the $7 million settlement she received to charity.
The actress-model accused Depp of abusing her during their 15-month marriage in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post — for which the actor filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard.
