Amber Heard tried to destroy Johnny Depp after not getting what she wanted in their divorce, a close friend of Depp has claimed.
In an interview with Page Six, Gina Deuters – the wife of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star's longtime business partner and assistant Stephen Deuters – shared what she observed of Depp and Heard's relationship during the former couple's 15-month marriage.
She claimed that the "Aquaman" actress thrives on drama. "There was one thing Amber said at the wedding. She kind of leaned into me and said, ‘Do you and Stephen ever fight?’ I responded, ‘We sometimes have an argument,’ and she was like, ’No, Gina, like really fight?’ And it was kind of unnerving. [I thought], ‘Do you enjoy it?’" alleged Deuters, who has known Depp for nearly 20 years.
Deuters speculated that Heard believes fighting is "passion" and means there are "sparks and fireworks" in the relationship.
"[Amber] is someone who is always used to getting what she wants. She is quite entitled and I think she made big demands in their divorce," she further claimed.
Deuters then echoed Depp's allegations at trial, suggesting that when Heard's demands were denied, the actress allegedly sought to "destroy" her ex-husband.
Deuters also insisted that she has never seen Depp act aggressively toward a woman. She further claimed that the actor's demeanor never turned "nasty" when she witnessed him drinking, doing drugs and smoking weed.
"I've never seen him lose his temper," she continued.
She went on to describe the "Fantastic Beasts" star as a "treasured friend" and insist that while his relationship with Heard was "volatile," Depp "wouldn't hit a woman."
"I can sleep at night knowing I am supporting my friend. I absolutely feel he has been a victim of domestic abuse and he deserves justice," Deuters told Page Six.
Deuters recently testified on behalf of Depp in his ongoing defamation trial against Heard in Virginia. However, she wasn't able to give her full evidence to the jury as her testimony was struck from the record after Heard's journalist pal Eve Barlow intervened.
Deuters was ordered to leave the court on April 14 after admitting to seeing clips of the trial online.
Barlow was also barred from attending the trial for tweeting, texting and posting information online while the trial was ongoing.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse." Though Depp was not named in the article, he claimed it cost him movie projects.
The trial is on hiatus and will resume Monday.
