Amber Portwood Gives Details On New Boyfriend After Matt Baier Breakup

“Teen Mom OG” star Amber Portwood was not pleased after fans criticized her new relationship after a video last week showed her locking lips with an unidentified man. The Indiana native confirmed she has a new beau, but she’s been tightlipped about releasing his name. She slammed people who accused her of moving from ex-fiancé Matt Baier too quickly.

Portwood ended her relationship with Baier after he apparently stole money from her and relapsed with drugs. They were together for three years.

“There’s nothing wrong with dating over 3 months after breaking up with someone… crazy how people judge and are so quick to talk s---?” Portwood tweeted, according to Radar Online. The messages have since been deleted.

People apparently assumed her new beau was from the south since he was wearing a cowboy hat, but Portwood quickly dispelled that rumor. “He wore that hat as a joke you uptight idiots lol he’s from Cali,” she said. Portwood added that he’s 33.

Even though she didn’t give many details about her new lover, fans might not have to wait for too long. Portwood was apparently caught kissing him while they were filming for a new season of “Teen Mom OG,” Radar Online wrote.

Portwood went on “Family Boot Camp,” but was unable to rekindle her relationship with Baier, who is nearly 20 years older than her.

“I personally am just trying to better myself … [after] I just kind of lost myself, my independence as a woman [and] as a person because I was too focused on Matt,” she told Dr. Drew Pinsky on the “This Life #YouLive” last month. “I’m trying to find me first before I even thinking about getting in another relationship with Matt.”

While she and Baier are no longer in a physical relationship, the remained friends. “We still talk, of course, because love doesn’t just shut off like that. That’s not how it works. I just want him to be happy,” she said.

Baier said the same to Radar Online when talking about his ex. “The most important thing is Amber is happy and safe,” the 46-year-old said. “Amber and I were inseparable for over 3 years and we built a life together. When you love somebody that much, all you want is for that person to be happy. I support all good decisions Amber makes.”

Baier was aware of her new apparent boyfriend, but was crushed over the news. Still, he wished her well.

“It’s over forever so there is going to be a degree of sadness,” he said. “But Amber and I are very close still, we have always been the best of friends. So she knows I am always here if she needs me and has my support.”
