AMD recently rolled out BIOS updates on older AMD 500 series motherboards, which the chipmaker promised earlier to provide broad support for its next-generation Zen3 processors.
As compiled by Computerbase, the latest update released by AMD features AGESA Combo-AM4 v2 1.0.8.x firmware. The site revealed that the majority of motherboards already have optional BIOSes with Zen 3 available in update v1.0.8.x. Several other brands like MSI went further and even promised to release update v1.1.0.0 by the end of this month.
The chipmaker previously said that AMD 400 series motherboards would not receive Zen 3 support. It created confusion and outrage among consumers who find it unacceptable that their few moths old B450 motherboards, in a way, could not support next-generation CPUs. Because of this, AMD changed its earlier announcement.
In May, AMD promised that it would release beta support in January 2021 for some AMD 400 series motherboards. It is not yet clear until now the specific release date of the said support. Motherboard makers have earlier confirmed that they are prepared to support AMD Zen 3 CPUs and are just waiting for proper BIOSes.
Meanwhile, the upcoming AMD Ryzen 5000 series features up to 16 cores and a 19 percent PC improvement. The next-generation series can boost up to 4.9 GHz and AMD claims that it will be the fastest gaming processor, a title Intel has been holding for a long time.
AMD also claims that the Ryzen 9 59500X features the highest single-thread performance of any desktop gaming processor. It sports with the most multi-core performance both in the desktop gaming processor segment and in the mainstream CPU socket segment.
Meanwhile, AMD’s 12 core Ryzen 9 59500X, according to the chipmaker, delivers the best gaming experience by 7% much faster performance in 1080p across select titles than the competition. It is also capable of providing a 7% faster gaming performance across select titles generationally, according to the chipmaker.
The AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 CPU series will be available starting Nov. 5.
