An American Airlines passenger traveling to Mexico claimed the flight attendants ignored her in the first class “for being black.”

In a YouTube video uploaded Sunday with the title "ignored in first class because I am black," 32-year-old Rochelle Graham-Campbell said she got into the flight at 7 a.m. and was ignored by the flight attendants for almost two hours. She claimed the attendants did not serve her food or drinks during her flight.

“I had been up since 4:30 am for my flight and felt nauseous as I hadn't eaten. They served everyone drinks. No one ever spoke to me or offered me anything. I figured they would be coming around as they had even served the guy sitting next to me,” she said, adding that the attendants then started the food service.

“They came back around and served people fruit and cheese trays. They made no eye contact with me,” she added.

Graham-Campbell said the crew ignored her. "They served everyone except me,” she said.

She then pressed the overhead call cabin. However, an attendant came over and asked the passenger sitting beside her if he needed help.

"I talked to my mom and my husband when I got off the flight as I was upset and disappointed after looking forward to my birthday trip for so long. I didn't want it to ruin my birthday but I'm sure I'm not the only person who has had this type of experience. This type of thing that needs to stop. It is something people of color, black people experience. It doesn't matter how professional or courteous we are - we will never be respected in certain spaces,” she explained.

Speaking to Sun Online, a spokesperson of the airlines said, "We have reached out to Mrs. Graham-Campbell directly to let her know that we take her concerns very seriously and are conducting an investigation of her experience."
