‘American Horror Story’ Season 3 Spoilers: Detailed Synopsis For ‘Coven’ Premiere Leaks Online; More Scoop On Characters
The episode 1 synopsis for “American Horror Story: Coven” already leaked online at the beginning of September, but now fans can get a more detailed outline of the upcoming premiere.
Thanks to Spoiler TV another synopsis for “Bitchcraft” has been released and it provides more insight into the upcoming characters. Check out the break down below:
The “Coven” premiere, “Bitchcraft,” will feature a flashback to 1834 New Orleans. It’s there that viewers will meet Madam LaLaurie (Kathy Bates), a woman who “bathes in the blood of others in an attempt to stay young.” When a servant of hers is seduced by her daughter Pauline, LaLaurie punishes him by transforming him into a beast. “Not by magic,” teases the synopsis. “But by far more gruesome means.”
Meanwhile in modern day Orlando, Florida, teenager Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga) loses her virginity … and along the way learns in a “terribly horrific way” that she’s a witch. A descendant from Salem witches, the magic only manifests in some of her family – and she lucked out.
Although people did burn at the stake, none of the real witches in Salem did. Instead they all fled to New Orleans. Once she’s revealed to carry the Salem witch gene, Zoe is forcibly sent to the city to attend Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, and can never see her mother again.
When she arrives she meets her fellow classmates: Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts), a “spoiled brat teenage movie star” who can move objects with her mind, Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe), a human voodoo doll who can “inflict her wounds on the person who gave them to her and Nan (Jamie Brewer), a girl with Down’s Syndrome who is clairvoyant.
Besides her peers, Zoe also meets head mistress Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson) and Spalding, the mute butler. At the school, Zoe begins to learn about her kind, including the “Supreme,” one witch a generation who “embodies countless magical ‘gifts.’”
And while the Salem witch trials are long over, Cordelia warns Zoe that witches are still being persecuted and burned alive – like young Misty Day, a girl who “terrified the folks at her church when she discovered she could raise the dead.”
In “Bitchcraft” Zoe will also meet the Supreme witch, Fiona … who is also Cordelia’s mother. A wealthy witch obsessed with eternal youth, Fiona has not been able to successfully contain youth through magic or science. And while Cordelia wants to teach the students at Miss Robichaux’s to live peacefully, Fiona wants to teach them “to make the world fear them.”
The premiere will find Madison welcoming Zoe to New Orleans by taking her to a frat party. It’s there that Zoe will come across Kyle, a “sweet and grounded” frat boy. But the others are not like him, and the synopsis teases that the frat boys “will regret the horror they visit upon Madison.”
By the end of the episode, Fiona will take the girls on a trip to visit the home of Madame LaLaurie. As previously mentioned, LaLaurie punished one of her slaves by transforming him into a beast. Viewers will learn that LaLaurie was eventually killed by the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans because the slave LaLaurie transformed was her lover. And while the girls are at LaLaurie’s home, Nan “sees ominous portents of the future.”
