‘American Horror Story’ Season 4 Spoilers: New Scoop On The ‘Freak Show’ Villains
“American Horror Story” is full of spooky and terrifying scenarios, but where would the FX mini-series be without its villains? Season 4, “Freak Show,” is set to introduce new bad guys when the fourth installment premieres on Oct. 8. And based off of the latest character breakdown it sounds like the villains are going to be the scariest yet.
By now fans of the hit FX show know that “American Horror Story” newcomer John Carroll Lynch is on board to star in “Freak Show.” However Entertainment Weekly just released some scoop on Lynch’s character that is bound to make your skin crawl. According to EW, Lynch will be playing “Twisty the Clown,” a retired clown who now resides in Jupiter – the same location in Florida that the freak show run by Jessica Lang’s character moves to. But Lynch’s “Twisty the Clown” isn’t just any old clown. He’s also a murderer and is supposedly “not thrilled by the arrival of the freak show.”
As we previously reported, a “dark entity” will surface when the “troupe of curiosities” arrives at the hamlet of Jupiter. That dark entity will not only threaten the lives of the Jupiter townsfolk, but will also pose a threat to the freaks. While it’s not clear if Twisty the Clown is that dark entity, Entertainment Weekly promises that Lynch’s character will be “Freak Show’s” main villain.
“He’s out to make their lives a living hell,” series co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed to EW. “He’s wearing a mask on the lower part of his face and there comes a point in the season where he takes the mask off and when you see what’s under you will faint in terror.”
Unfortunately Twisty the Clown is not the only threat to the freak show performers. Another “American Horror Story” newcomer, Wes Bentley of “The Hunger Games,” will also play a character than viewers will come to fear. Bentley’s character is named Edward Mordrake, and Murphy revealed that he is based off of a “very famous horror myth.”
“It was a man with two faces,” Murphy explained of Edward Mordrake. “A normal face and then a face on the back of his head that would whisper evil things and force the forward-facing entity to commit horrible crimes.”
As TV Line previously revealed, Bentley’s character will be interacting with Kathy Bates’s bearded lady, Ethel. Edward Mordrake will allegedly be a “dark tormentor” from Ethel’s past who is “hell-bent on revenge.”
“American Horror Story: Freak Show” will premiere on FX on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 10 p.m. EDT. What do you think of the new villains? Do they sound scary to you? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
