‘American Horror Story’ Season 5 Premiere Included 'Hotel' Connection To The Season 1 Murder House, Harmon Family [PHOTOS]
“American Horror Story: Hotel” premiered Wednesday night, bringing fans of the FX anthology back to where the series began – Los Angeles. The first episode was full of blood, sex and chilling flashbacks, but what some may not have realized is that the episode also featured a reference to the Season 1 murder house.
Fans of “American Horror Story” know that while every season is different, they all somehow connect. It was previously revealed that actress Christine Estabrook, who had a small role as real estate woman Marcy in Season 1, would be returning for Season 5. She made her grand appearance in the premiere and dropped a sneaky reference to the Harmon family that lived at the LA murder house in the first season.
In the “Hotel” premiere, Marcy arrived at Hotel Cortez to greet New York fashion designer Will Drake (Cheyenne Jackson) and his son Lachlan (Lyric Lennon). Will was interested in moving out of New York and purchasing the hotel. But before they got down to business, Marcy revealed that it was a gloomy day because her dog died.
“He came to me through very unfortunate circumstances,” she explained.
It was an odd conversation to have in passing with a client, but it connects to the “American Horror Story” Season 1 finale. For those that don’t remember, the whole Harmon family – Vivian (Connie Britton), Ben (Dylan McDermott) and Violet (Taissa Farmiga) – all died inside the murder house. Because they died within the walls they were able to live in the building as ghosts. However, they couldn’t take Vivian’s beloved dog with them.
After their deaths, Marcy showed another family the house and had to reveal that the price was so low because the previous owners died in the house.
“This is their dog Hallie,” she told them. “She’s the only remaining member of the Harmon family. I’ve adopted her.”
