‘American Horror Story’ Season 5 Spoilers: ‘Hotel’ Promo Video Teases The Countess’ Dark Side In New Trailer
“American Horror Story” might not be returning to the small screen until October, but the hit FX miniseries already has us shaking in our boots with the drama’s chilling, new promo video. The Season 5 trailer, titled “Above and Below,” may only be 30 seconds long, but the video is stuffed with twisted scenes and freaky characters – including Lady Gaga as the blood-sucking Countess.
The “Hotel” trailer, sound tracked to Rammstein’s 1997 single “Du Hast,” begins with the Countess stepping off an old school-looking elevator dressed to the nines in an elegant ensemble. As the video continues, Gaga’s character walks down a bright, white hallway (that flashes red) while her children emerge from the walls.
The Countess is then seeing playing games with her children on the floor, which is when the video takes a dark turn – literally. The white room grows dim, illuminating the neon leashes the Countess has attached her children to. But the white-haired kids don’t seem to mind being shackled as they bust a move to the metal tune along with their mom. Guess Lady Gaga really is the mother of monsters!
Throughout the clip, audiences witness the repeated flashing of a pair of scissors as well as two mummy-looking characters throwing red marbles down a pristine hallway. Could that be foreshadowing the games that the Countess’ children will play during “Hotel”?
But despite the tricks her kids might pull , Lady Gaga’s character won’t be phased, according to the Grammy-winning artist.
“The Countess is a very old soul,” the singer told Entertainment Weekly. “She’s extremely strong. She’s been through so much. It’s kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her. This show in many ways is about her survival and there is an amazing journey that touches on the mythology of viruses and in what way these afflictions change our lives and bring us together and tear us apart.”
“American Horror Story: Hotel” will premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
