'America's Next Top Model' Season 21 Contestant Found Dead; Mirjana Puhar Reportedly Killed In Triple Homicide
Mirjana Puhar, a former contestant on the hit CW reality series “America’s Next Top Model,” was tragically killed Tuesday in a triple homicide, according to reports. TMZ revealed that the 19-year-old model, who appeared on the most recent season of Tyra Bank’s hit competition series, was murdered in her boyfriend’s home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Serbian native, along with her boyfriend and another victim, were found dead by an alleged friend of the model who went to the house after being notified that gunshots had went off, a source revealed. The insider continued to tell TMZ that after the friend had found two of the bodies, they called the police to report the gruesome scene.
Law enforcement had reason to believe that the murders were drug related after the preliminary investigation, officials told TMZ. A source then added that the victims knew their killer.
On Wednesday, police charged 19-year-old Emmanuel Jesus Rangel with three counts of first-degree murder. It was later revealed that Puhar’s boyfriend Jonathan Alvarado, 23, and Jusmar Gonzaga, 21, were the second and third victims involved in the devastating murder.
Puhar began modeling at 12-years-old, appearing in shows at the Charlotte Fashion Week and modeling with centers like Barbizon and John Casablanca’s, the Charlotte Observer revealed. At the age of 16, Puhar dropped out of Queen’s Grant High School to begin focusing on her modeling career.
“I was a wild child,” Puhar told the Charlotte Observer. “I went out, had fun, partied, whatever -- I didn’t really have the best influences around me.”
But despite dropping out, Puhar managed to earn her GED while attending Central Piedmont Community College. Following her educational achievement, the aspiring model then joined the cast on Season 21 of “ANTM." She was eliminated in the 10th episode of the installment, which is when Puhar decided to move back to Charlotte with her boyfriend of only a few months.
