Amy Schumer Defends Cousin Senator Chuck Schumer After President Donald Trump Called His Tears Fake
Amy Schumer is not a fan of President Donald Trump’s ban on Muslim refugees. On Tuesday, the comedian and actress defended her cousin, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, after Donald Trump mocked him for crying at a rally held on the steps of the Supreme Court.
Trump made fun of New York Senator Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a tweet posted at 6:21 a.m. on Tuesday. He called Amy’s cousin “fake tears Chuck Schumer.” The Emmy award winning actress took to Instagram to express her thoughts about his recent ban on Muslim refugees and said that Chuck’s tears were real.
“I know Chuck Schumer and HE CANNOT act trust me,” Amy wrote in a lengthy post. “He can barely smile on cue. He can’t help but be transparent and genuine. He was hurt for those people and all the people facing such unconstitutional injustice.”
The 35-year-old New Yorker warned fans that Trump would bombard the country with several awful decisions. She urged them to stay focused and organized and fight for each other’s rights. Schumer called the ban “unconstitutional” and “cruel.”
Schumer also emphasized the failure of Trump’s first known military raid which took place in Yemen and resulted in the deaths of two Americans -- Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens and an 8-year-old girl, according to NBC News. However, the President called the raid successful.
The “Inside Amy Schumer” actress has been expressing her political opinions with gusto of late. She took part in the Women’s March over the weekend and has supported her cousin’s stance on gun control after two women were killed by a gunman in Louisiana during a screening of her movie “Trainwreck” in 2015.
