Android 7.0 Nougat Samsung Galaxy S7 Update: Downloads Expected For AT&T And UK Carrier Models Soon
Android 7.0 Nougat has been trickling onto Samsung Galaxy S7 handsets around the world since mid-January. Reports indicate that carrier models should expect to see the new software within the coming days and weeks.
First up to receive the new software in the U.S. may be the AT&T Galaxy S7 Active. Tech blogs have discovered documents from the Wi-Fi Alliance detailing that the Galaxy S7 Active running Android Nougat has been certified for Wi-Fi use. The Galaxy S7 Active is an AT&T exclusive device, meaning its rollout will be U.S. based.
Currently, there is no word on when AT&T will rollout the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the standard Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge models. Typically the flagship decides update to new software before other models of the same family. Samsung has also confirmed the Galaxy S7 Active is among its devices, which will update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Currently, unlocked Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge models are updating to Android 7.0 Nougat in the U.S., among several other markets. Reports recently indicated that S7 handsets are now updating to Android 7.0 Nougat in India.
While the rollout for unlocked Galaxy S7 models continues, carriers in the U.K. is also preparing their handsets for update. A spokesperson from the carrier EE told the Sunday Express it is in the middle of testing the software for its Galaxy S7 models. Users should expect an update sometime in February.
