Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt Split To Be Explored In 'Famous Feuds'
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's feud will be explored in Us Weekly's upcoming special.
Jolie and Pitt did not have an amicable split since she filed for divorce, throwing shade at each other and getting embroiled in a custody battle over their children. The "Maleficent" star filed for sole physical custody of their six children -- Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9. For those who want to know more about the conflict between the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" stars, their relationship and breakup will be covered in-depth in "Us Weekly's Famous Feuds" on Friday, Us Weekly reported.
Jolie and Pitt's split was reportedly triggered by an altercation involving their son Maddox and the "Ocean's Eleven" actor. "He got drunk and was fighting with Angie. Maddox stepped in to defend Angie and got in Brad's face," a source said last year.
The Department of Children and Family Services was called during a Sept. 14, 2016 flight from France to California. Pitt and Jolie were interviewed on the tarmac. An investigation was made, and the child abuse allegation against Pitt was eventually dropped.
Following their split, Jolie reportedly made hurtful remarks against Pitt. In an interview with Vanity Fair for its September 2017 issue, the "Salt" actress said something that did not sit well with her estranged husband.
"[Our children have been] very brave... in times they needed to be. We're all just healing from the events that led to the filing... They're not healing from the divorce. They're healing from some… from life, from things in life," Jolie said.
An insider claimed that Jolie was "making [Pitt] out to be the villain" in their failed marriage by implying that the kids are healing from Pitt and not from the divorce. "He's rising above it... Although Angie took some strong shots at him in the interview, he knows he's finally in a good place with the kids and that one day, he'll have the custody arrangement that he wants," the insider added.
Things have already calmed down between the exes. Earlier this year, they started talking again, and Jolie has allowed their children to spend some time with Pitt. Both agreed to prioritize the welfare of their children.
In August, they decided to call off their divorce, but sources close to the former couple said that they are not reconciling. "There's a pause in the [divorce] process because they both made children the priority, but nothing significant has changed in their relationship," an insider said.
