Back in 2011, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got themselves a place that everyone can only dreamed of. Chateau Miraval witnessed the union of Pitt and Jolie in 2014, following a 2-year engagement (2012) after seven years of being together (they met on-set of Mr. and Ms. Smith in 2005).

It’s been three years since Pitt and Jolie filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences but until now the proceedings is still ongoing. In light of the recent events, news surfaced that one of the reasons the divorce isn’t finalized yet is because of their French castle.

A recent story of the news outlet, the Blast, claimed that Pitt and Jolie is still trying to figure out who gets what, Cosmopolitan reported. Apparently, the former couple doesn’t know, just yet, what to do with property including the winery.

Needless to say, whatever the result of the negotiation will probably work best for all the parties involved. But for now, let’s take another look inside the lavish French estate.

Pitt and Jolie’s Chateau Miraval is a 1,200-acre estate located in Correns, France. The property is surrounded by structures from 17th century, expansive hillsides, pine forests and olive groves. It also has several fountains and a vineyard. Just like any medieval property, Pitt and Jolie’s former abode has its own moat.

The main house of Pitt and Jolie’s chateau boasts 35 (umm, yes, 35) rooms. When the renovation took place, the former A-list couple added a gym, spa, home theater, video game room dirt bike course, indoor as well as outdoor pools and check this out —a helipad! People reported that in 2010, the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress added a 200-year-old olive tree in the chateau’s garden.

Pitt and Jolie hired a visual artist to craft a plan to make the place exceptional, putting much consideration to the lighting. The “Ad Astra” actor reportedly wanted the light as the center of everything.

However, the project was only partially finished because Pitt found out that the general contractor, who manages the renovation, was excessively charging them. Despite the legal proceedings that’s been taking place, Pitt allegedly contacted the artist and asked her to finish the project, Forbes reported.

Was the vineyard mentioned earlier? Yes? Good. Because it gave birth to Miraval Wines in 2013. Earlier reports revealed that the first 6,000 rose bottles produced went off the market in a matter of five hours. Former owner American winemaker, Tom Bove and his interest in wine got him the award as top producer of organic wine in France.

Before purchasing the chateau for an estimated amount of $60 million in 2012, Pitt and Jolie reportedly signed a least contract for the property back in 2008.
