Another Tuition Hike for Cal State

The second round of tuition hikes for the fall term was approved Tuesday by California State University leaders.

The annual tuition will now come to $5,472, a 12 percent hike since the last increase in November by trustees - and a whopping 26 percent increase in tuition for Cal State students since last fall.

Last month's approval of the state budget included a $650 million cut to the Cal State and University of California school system. In response, Cal State leaders voted to approve the tuition increase today, and UC leaders are expected to vote Thursday on a 9.6 percent tuition hike.

Cal State school system's budget chief Robert Turnage said We cannot responsibly dig any deeper regarding the decision.
