AP 'Crash Lands' Headline: Associated Press Publishes Muddled Tweet, Causes Panic
The Associated Press published a tweet Tuesday morning that sent the media world into a panic, inferring that the Dutch military plane carrying the bodies of MH17 passengers had crashed.
The Washington Post quickly published the wire on its website and thousands of Twitter users retweeted the message. Scores of Twitter users called out the AP, cursing them openly for the mistake, and asked if the media outlet's account had been hacked.
