'Apex Legends': Fans Badger Developers For March Battle Pass
Respawn Entertainment has previously announced that it’ll release a major update and the battle pass for “Apex Legends.” However, it’s already March and fans are slowly getting impatient for the announcement. Here’s what we know about this.
As seen on Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella’s Twitter, many fans are already asking him about the updates. Zampella hasn’t dropped any dates, but he assured the fans that they’re working hard so that they can give the updates soon. For now, we’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out what exactly they’re cooking for "Apex Legends."
The game is only about a month old and not much gameplay updates have been released so far. As of February, the Havoc Energy assault rifle was added into the game as a new weapon available to pick up in the King’s Canyon map.
In the March update, Respawn revealed that a new weapon, some characters, a map, and loot will be released in the game. Potentially, the Havoc rifle can take that new weapon slot.
Meanwhile, a leak on the “Apex Legends” Reddit showed that the next character to be added to the playable roster will be Octane, the high-speed daredevil. His abilities seem to center on risk and improved speeds as he’ll have to sacrifice his own health for a temporary speed boost. However, this risk is mitigated by his own passive that allows him to regenerate his health continuously when not damaged for a while.
In addition, his ultimate feels similar to Pathfinder as he lays down a “Launch Pad,” which allows its users to trampoline off it.
As of now, Respawn Entertainment has not confirmed nor debunked this leak, which has made players ponder on the possibility of Octane’s effect in the competitive meta of “Apex Legends.”
Meanwhile, the game only has one map, “King’s Canyon,” which is a massive island composed of sandy deserts, lush forests, burnt down fields, residential areas and military bases. Many active players are already familiar with this area and a second map would be a refreshing experience for its players.
Lastly, the new “loot” could potentially be a new set of cosmetics added to the characters and weapons in the game.
Aside from the updates, the first season of updates this March also yields the start of the battle pass, which is speculated to contain unique cosmetics for the game.
For now, we’ll just have to wait for Respawn to reveal more details about "Apex Legends."
