Apple To Launch iPhone SE 2 On April 3, Report Claims
KEY POINTS
- A report claims that Apple will release the iPhone SE 2 in April
- The report claims to have reliable, yet anonymous sources
- The claim is best taken with a grain of salt
Apple is tipped to launch the successor to the wildly successful iPhone SE very soon, a report claims.
Fans have been waiting for the arrival of the successor to the beloved iPhone SE that was released in 2016. Previous reports revealed that the device will have a chassis the size of the iPhone 8, the A13 Bionic chip similar to the ones on the iPhone 11 series of handsets, and will be sold for a cheaper price compared to the iPhone 11.
Despite the number of leaks and reports about it, fans still don't know when Apple plans to release the iPhone SE successor, which is currently known as the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9. Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo simply said he expects Apple to release it during the first half of 2020. Reports from the supply chain also indicate the same thing.
A new report from German site iPhone-ticker.de (via Google Translate) claims that the Cupertino tech giant will release the device in less than two months, MacRumors reported. Per the site, Apple is planning to hold a media event at the end of March, likely on March 31st. The report claims that Apple will then launch the highly anticipated iPhone SE2/iPhone 9 a few days later, on April 3.
The German site did not specifically mention its source, but simply said that it has “no reason to doubt the reliability” of its claims. While the thought of seeing the iPhone SE successor arrive during that time is indeed exciting, readers, of course, are advised to stay wait for Apple to officially announce something. Until then, fans are advised to take the claim with a heaping tablespoon of salt.
What to expect?
The iPhone SE 2, if ever it arrives on April 3 or not, can be expected to feature what made the first iPhone SE great – except for its size. Fans should expect it to have thick top and bottom bezels, a Touch ID Home button, the A13 chip and 3GB of RAM, and a single-lens camera at the back of the phone. Fans can also expect the device to sell for a cheap price – at about $399 to be exact.
