Apple macOS Catalina: Latest Update Unlikely To Be Released Soon
Apple remained tight-lipped about the MacOS Catalina at its recent iPhone 11 event. However, the tech giant posted some hints on the macOS Catalina page, suggesting that the latest Mac update might arrive sometime in October. Apple confirmed that post with the company’s release of macOS Catalina 10.15 Golden Master beta.
The update has been released on October 3, just ahead of the company’s planned public release of October 4. The release of the macOS Catalina 10.15 Golden Master beta represents a good sign that the Cupertino-based company is on track to release the latest update to the general public.
As expected by many Apple users and fans, the macOS Catalina brings a number of big changes and new features to MacBook and iMac machines. The latest update offers standalone apps for Apple TV, Apple Music, and Podcasts. Apple also added a feature called Sidecar, which according to the company will allow an iPad to be used as a second Mac display. The Sidecar’s other function will also allow users to transform their iPad device into a drawing tablet and markup device for their Mac machine.
The latest macOS Catalina updates also include an accessibility-focused feature called Voice Control. This new accessibility-focused feature brings rich navigation to users with verbal controls through on-device processing, promising a more powerful experience to the users.
Apple first brought the Screen Time app to iOS users and the Apple users loved it. The Screen Time app helps users to be more aware of the time they spend on their Mac and mobile device. But, in macOS Catalina, it would be different. The app makes the transition across the Mac. This means that users will now be able to limit internet usage, app and even using their Mac machine. All of these have been made to help users stay more focus and give them some time away from their digital life.
There are also some major changes made in the general security system. This update will make the Mac more compatible with apps that are designed for the iOS mobile platform. In addition, Apple’s UIKit framework is also coming to the Mac machine. Apple’s framework, which now officially called Project Catalyst, will allow developers to port their iPad app to the macOS platform.
The latest macOS Catalina update will be compatible with the MacBook Pro (for 2012 and later version), Mac mini (for 2012 and later version), Mac Pro (for 2013 and later version), iMac (for 2012 and later version), and iMac Pro (2013 and later version). The latest update will also compatible with the 12-inch MacBook and MacBook Air (for 2012 and later version).
The news about the macOS Catalina release comes just days after the unveiling of the tenth MacOS Catalina beta at the recent Apple’s event. Apple is known for unveiling new versions of MacBook and iPad devices in the month of October.
Apple first announced macOS Catalina at the company’s recent WWDC Developers Conference in San Jose, California. However, the company hasn’t mentioned anything about its release date.
