Apple Watch Tip: How To Take Screenshot On Smartwatch
KEY POINTS
- The Apple Watch is a very helpful tool
- Unlike other iDevices, however, Apple Watch screenshots aren't enabled by default
- There's a way to enable screenshots on the Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is such a nifty little device that does a lot of things. Aside from telling time and monitoring the user's daily activities, it can also be used to take photos and play music right there from the wearer's wrist.
Those who own an Apple Watch, however, will likely notice that unlike other iDevices like the iPhone and iPad, the wearable doesn't allow users to take screenshots by default. This inability to capture what's on the screen can be a bit annoying for some, especially in times when, for example, they want to show off their completed Activity Rings, or when they see a strange error in the device.
Thankfully, there's a way to take screenshots on the Apple Watch. Apple Insider said this feature has to be enabled on a paired iPhone. When the feature is already enabled, however, users can take as many screenshots as they want.
Here's how to enable screenshots on the Apple Watch:
- First, users should get their Apple Watch and the iPhone it is paired to.
- Second, on the iPhone, users should open the Apple Watch app.
- Third, inside the app, users should tap on My Watch, then tap on General.
- Fourth, once there, users must scroll down to look for Enable Screenshots, then turn it on
This process enables screenshots on the Apple Watch. Now that the feature has been enabled on the iPhone, users can take screenshots on the Apple Watch using two fingers to press the Digital Crown and side button at the same time.
Users will know if they've done it correctly as the screen will quickly flash white, indicating that a screenshot has been taken. Screenshots on the Apple Watch will be saved on the user's paired iPhone.
What can it be used for?
While some might think that screenshots taken on the Apple Watch won't be very useful due to the device's small display, the fact is that these can still be useful depending on the person's intentions.
Screenshots of the user's Activity Rings, for example, will help users keep a photo log of their physical exercise on a daily basis. Screenshots of the Maps app, on the other hand, can help users keep a photo of their route, whether it's a daily jog or when traveling to a new place. It all depends on the user's preferences.
