Apple's 2019 iPhone Models To Look Exactly Like This Year's Lineup
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are already up for grabs, while the iPhone XR is just days away from being released. However, an analyst has already given some predictions as to what consumers can expect from Apple’s 2019 iPhone lineup.
TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a note to investors, indicating that Apple’s trio of 2019 iPhones will likely feature the same displays next year. This means that Apple could continue to use the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch screen sizes for its 2019 OLED iPhones, along with a 6.1-inch LCD model, according to MacRumors.
Apple’s trio of iPhones this year are considered to be part of the tech giant’s typical “S” upgrades. It was presumed that 2019 will introduce bigger changes to the iPhone lineup. If Kuo’s prediction were true, then major upgrades are unlikely to happen. Apple might simply stick to the same screen sizes for next year. It’s possible that the company could introduce some new and big changes to the 2019 iPhones, but it may be a little disappointing for many if there’s nothing new in terms of its physical design.
Kuo also predicted that all three 2019 iPhone models will have the same waterproof rating that’s found on the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. This means that the handsets will have a water- and dust-resistance rating of IP68. This type of rating means that the devices will be able to survive being submerged up to two meters of water for 30 minutes, as per AppleInsider. The iPhone XR comes with an IP67 rating and it’s also likely that its 2019 counterpart will carry the same certification.
Rumors about the 2019 iPhone models have been popping up even before Apple officially announced the iPhone XS, XS Max and the iPhone XR. It was previously rumored that the 2019 models will still have Face ID facial recognition but with a revamped/upgraded TrueDepth camera system. Apple is also expected to source its “A13” chips from TSMC and Apple might also include a triple-camera setup in one of its 2019 models. Apple might also completely kill off its 3D Touch feature for its 2019 iPhones.
Next year is expected to be another big year for Apple since its also rumored that it may introduce new versions of its other existing products. A new HomePod model might arrive next year, as well as a successor to the AirPods.
