The Guinness world record has been awarded to Apple's App Store for being the most popular apps marketplace in the world.

A solid 10 billion apps were downloaded since it launched back in July 2008. As of September 2010 the store hosted about 260,000 apps.

The App Store also won an award for being the biggest virtual video game store with catalog of most titles. (Beating Android, Xbox Live Indie Arcade, Steam and the Wii Virtual Console)

The App Store had 145 games available when it first opened the store. More than 37,300 games can be found within Apple's App Store currently.

Also, Apple's iPhone 4 was selected as the Fastest-Selling Portable Gaming System after selling an estimated 1.5 million units since its launch on June 24, 2010.
