KEY POINTS

  • The iPhone 11 series handsets are some of the best in the market today
  • Existing users will still enjoy their features even when new tech arrives this year
  • Those looking to buy an iPhone 11 series device this year, however, should consider what they might miss

There's no denying it – the iPhone 11 series of smartphones are great devices, even in 2020. This means those who have purchased an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are still bound to enjoy their handsets even while other smartphone companies are releasing handsets with newer and better features.

With that said, those who are considering buying a new handset in 2020 and are thinking of getting Apple's current flagships should know that while they have some great features such as a highly acclaimed camera and a good OLED display, among others, they don't have some offerings that other smartphones have, iPhoneHacks noted. Here some of the things iPhone 11 buyers should think about.

A USB-C Port

In a time when almost all devices –including the MacBook, MacBook Pro and iPad– have adopted the USB-C standard, Apple continues to equip its iPhones with its proprietary Lightning connector. While it's unclear if the next iPhone series will make the shift to USB-C, it's clear that the iPhone 11 series still uses Lightning.

90Hz/120Hz Display Refresh Rates

Sure, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Maxx boast of having some of the best OLED screens in any handset, but it's a fact that these handsets only offer a 60Hz refresh rate. Other handsets, including Samsung's Galaxy S20 series, offer up to 120Hz refresh rates resulting in a better UI/UX experience.

Optical Zoom

The iPhone 11 handsets, particularly the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, boast of great photography capabilities thanks to improved hardware and software features such as Night Mode and Deep Fusion. The thing is, these handsets only offer up to 2x optical zoom, which is significantly less compared to what Huawei and Samsung's latest handsets offer.

5G Connectivity

iPhoneHacks noted that most users tend to replace their phones after 3 years of use. That said, the iPhone 11 models do not feature support for 5G, which is seen to grow this year. Those hoping to use the 5G network will do well to consider other handsets, including a future iPhone, instead.

Reverse Wireless Charging

Those who love to use their AirPods and AirPods Pros over extended periods of time outside the home and away from a power outlet know how disappointing it is to have the batteries drop to zero just when their favorite song starts playing. The iPhone 11 series would've been able to charge them using Reverse Wireless Charging tech, but sadly, they can't because Apple didn't include the feature.
