A 20-year-old man in Arizona, who killed his 3-year-old brother when he was 16, has pleaded guilty to the murder.

The accused, identified as Shae Holloway, was at home with his four siblings when he attacked his youngest brother without warning. He then picked up the victim and threw him from the second floor to the first. Holloway then stabbed the child multiple times with a carving knife that he had grabbed from the kitchen. When his 9-year-old sister attempted to stop him, he started attacking her.

The mother was at work when the incident took place.

In the meanwhile, the accused’s 17-year-old brother managed to grab the girl and run out of the home to get help. The neighbors immediately called the police. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw the accused coming out of his home, covered in blood. He also had multiple wounds on his hands.

While the victim was pronounced dead on the scene, the 4-year-old girl was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Court records obtained by AZ Central Wednesday revealed that the accused was taken into custody and charged with murder and attempted child abuse. He pleaded guilty earlier this month as part of a plea agreement that dropped charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, and disorderly conduct with a weapon against him. He is set to be sentenced on Feb.5.

The incident comes months after a teen in Minnesota smothered his 5-year-old brother to death while attempting to stop the child from "throwing a fit." Medics responded to the home and found the boy unconscious in the bedroom. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Following this, the accused, identified as 17-year-old Kaleb Wolfe Smith, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and domestic assault by strangulation.
