Six people were killed and several others injured Friday in a charter bus crash on Interstate 40 in Pulaski County, Arkansas, state police said, according to the Associated Press.

The accident occurred about 2 a.m. EST after the bus hit the side of a bridge, AP reported. The bus was on the westbound lane and rammed in to an abutment after it left the road, according to AP.

The crash victims were later transported in ambulances and the westbound I-40 was reopened by 4 a.m. after traffic was initially diverted through the city of North Little Rock.

The names of the driver, victims, and those injured were not released. Also, there was no information immediately available on the bus' destination. Arkansas Red Cross reportedly said the bus was from Michigan.
