Arkansas Murder-Suicide: Man Shoots Wife Before Killing Self After Domestic Dispute
In an apparent murder-suicide that took place in Arkansas, two people were found dead inside a home Tuesday evening. In a media release Thursday, Greene County authorities said that a husband killed his wife before shooting himself.
Deputies went to a call Tuesday in the 1000 block of Greene Road 714, according to Sheriff Steve Franks after a family member found the bodies of two people. The deceased were identified as Lindsey Downing, 36, and her husband, James Downing, 37, both of Paragould.
Authorities said that evidence indicates that the shooting took place following a domestic dispute.
"Mrs. Lindsey Downing was in the process of leaving the residence. James Downing then shot and killed Mrs. Lindsey Downing and then turned the gun on himself and took his own life," Sheriff Franks said, adding that both bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for autopsy.
Franks said investigators will also forward the case to prosecutors for review.
