Arsenal Rumors: Ozil Will Play Out Deal Despite Multiple Offers, According To Agent
KEY POINTS
- Mesut Ozil plans to play only for Arsenal for the remainder of his contract, his agent says
- Ozil playing for another club may only happen after six months
- His agent confirms that talks with several teams have been made
Mesut Ozil is still under contract with Arsenal FC for the next three months. Though he has not played as of this writing, seeing him back in the field may only happen after that. That is unless the Gunners suddenly have a change of heart and decide to activate him.
Regardless of whether he is called back to action or not, Ozil’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, has claimed that the German will play out his contract with the Gunners. He has not played since March after he was left out by Mikel Arteta for the Premier League and the Europa League.
"Mesut has another six months on his contract with Arsenal. Certainly he has missed football. He is currently working hard to wear the Arsenal shirt again, and he will continue to work,” Sogut said to Fanatik.
Being left out, it comes as no surprise that multiple teams have expressed interest in taking in the 32-year-old player. One of them is Fenerbahce, who, per sources, is confident about getting the defender to their side this January transfer window.
Sogut confirmed that talks were made for the services of Ozil but maintained that his client plans to see out his contract with Arsenal.
"Nothing has changed for Mesut right now. Under these circumstances, it seems that Mesut will complete the season at Arsenal," Sogut said.
This comes not long after reports surfaced that Ozil could be called back to action in January. In a previous report, it was mentioned how Arteta may be considering him for January. However, it all depends on internal discussions that would include the German.
It would be best to note that this possibility may have stemmed from the defense Arsene Wenger gave regarding Ozil in a report by ESPN.
"You have a more creative player in the team who can do less defensive work but you build a team around him who can compensate for these deficiencies,” Wenger stated. "That is what you have to think about."
The Gunners are currently 15th in the Premier League table and have only scored 11 goals. They are coming off a 1-1 draw with Southampton as they continue to struggle after six league games without a win to show.
