Assassin?s Creed 3 To Portray Benjamin Franklin ?Realistically?
Ubisoft's upcoming historical action-adventure, open world stealth video game Assassin's Creed 3 will look to stay true to real-life icons and try portraying them as realistically as possible. Alex Hutchinson, creative director on Assassin's Creed III, has discussed how this will be one of the goals of the game.
In an interview with Penny Arcade, Hutchinson discussed how the developers always tried to make sure that the people who are assassinated are actually killed. According to him, the goal is to make sure that they are real people who die in Assassin's Creed at the same place and same time as they did in real life.
He put up an example about how the team has portrayed Benjamin Franklin in the game. While he's often portrayed as an upright supporter of American values, he also had his ups and downs like any other normal human being in real life.
We went with the more unusual sides of him. Like his love of women, Hutchinson told Penny Arcade. He said that women dry out, but they dry out from the top down, and therefore the bits that you need never dry out. I know we're going to get [complaints], but this is all public record.
Penny Arcade, nonetheless, took this opportunity to take a look at Franklin's actual quote and this is what they found: Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever.
Franklin added, So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement.
Assassin's Creed, which will be set during the American Revolution, and will feature a new protagonist called Connor Kenway, whose birth name is Ratohnhake:ton. The game is set to arrive on October 30 this year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.
