Audio-Technica has announced the ATH-CKR7TW, the company’s very first truly wireless in-ear headphones. The Audio-Technica wireless headphones will be available sometime later this fall and the device will sell for $249.

The ATH-CKR7TW comes with 11mm drivers on each earbud and it has a carbon-coated diaphragm that provides fast response times and minimum distortion, according to Engadget. The Audio-Technica headphones also have brass stabilizers that are designed to reduce unwanted resonances.

The device also a stainless steel acoustic mesh resistor, which improves high-frequency response. Audio-Technica says that the driver performance of the wireless in-ear headphones is further enhanced by isolating acoustic and electronic components from each of the buds.

The ATH-CKR7TW also comes with high-quality D/A converter and amplifier that are compatible with aptX and AAC audio codecs. This should enable the wireless earbuds to deliver the best possible wireless audio reproduction. The Audio-Technica wireless headphones use Bluetooth 5.0 technology to connect to devices and the device is compatible with iOS and Android.

Users are also able to customize their audio experience using the Audio-Technica Connect app for iOS and Android. Although the in-ear design might be enough to keep it snugly fit for most users, it will still come with an array of differently-sized eartips so users can have the best fit possible.

As for control, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKR7TW features touch controls right on the earbud. Users will be able to skip tracks, play/pause, adjust volume and answer phone calls, according to Android Authority.

When it comes to battery life, Audio-Technica says that the ATH-CKR7TW will be able to deliver up to six hours of music playback on a single charge. The wireless in-ear headphones also come with a charging case, which is designed to add an additional nine hours of use. For comparison, the Apple AirPods device is able to deliver up to five hours of battery life on a single charge, and more than 24 hours of listening time with multiple charges through the included charging case.

The ATH-CKR7TW doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but Audio-Technica says that it will be available this fall. The $249 price may be a little steep and it’s even more expensive than the $159 Apple AirPods. But based on its design and set of features, it seems like it could be an attractive option for customers who are after better audio performance.
