  • Filming is expected to begin soon

The first look pictures of “Avatar 2” have been released online. The concept arts tease the ocean world of Pandora, and the film promises to explore new worlds beyond the alien moon that were not seen in the first movie.

After making a global impact with the 2009 movie, James Cameron is back to work on the sequel. The official Twitter page of the franchise has released concept arts of the new worlds that the fans will see in the upcoming movie. The first movie became a huge hit for using innovative 3D technology to show beautiful landscapes of an alien world, and the next film is expected to do the same.

The pictures tease coral reefs, a night view of a beautiful island, men flying on their banshees, and the typical floating rocks that the first movie was famous for. The post confirms that the sequel will go beyond Pandora and explore new worlds that the fans haven’t yet seen.

What exactly is Cameron planning for the sequel? The director previously told Collider that the film will take place under water. He has figured out how to do motion capture under water, and this will be a big part of the movie.

Cameron confirmed that there are many challenges involved in filming under water. The main problem they faced was that the interface between water and air made it difficult to accurately film the motion capture markers. The production team, however, was able to overcome the problem thanks to their imagination, innovation, and the use of new technology.

Cameron has big plans for the franchise. According to Screen Rant, four new movies have been planned.

Filming of “Avatar 2” is expected to begin soon, and the movie will be released on Dec. 17, 2021. The rest of the movies will be released in 2023, 2025, and 2027.
