“Avengers: Endgame” was recently announced as the Global Box Office King after surpassing the iconic 2009 CGI-haven sci-fi movie “Avatar’s” $2.7897 billion record.

The film grossed $2,790,216,194 at the worldwide box office as of July 21. “Endgame” has only been in theaters for just 87 days in comparison to “Avatar,” which ran for 234 days during its first run. “Avatar” was then rereleased in 2010.

In June, “Endgame” had its own rerelease when Marvel Studios began to unveil a brand new theatrical release of the movie with a special tribute to the late comic book writer Stan Lee. They also showed a deleted scene as well as a teaser for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” at the end of the credits.

“A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to these historic heights,” Alan Horn, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer, announced in a statement.

“Of course, even with the passage of a decade, the impact of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ remains as powerful as ever, and the astonishing achievements of both of these films are ongoing proof of the power of movies to move people and bring them together in a shared experience,” Horn said.

He further noted that the talented filmmakers behind these worlds have much more in store. He said that "we look forward" to both the futures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Pandora.

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner, who is expecting his own series coming to Disney Plus, also recently shared a photo of him posing with an audience in a tweet that he captioned, “Thanks to all the fans, ENDGAME is #1 at the box office all time! Wow! @marvel @marvelstudios @avengersendgamemovie @avenger.”

Fans have showed their support and enthusiam after hearing about the news. A fan replied to the actor’s tweet, saying that they saw it twice when it first came out and loved it.

“[Catch] me crying in the car on a road trip because of all this new Marvel information,” a fan tweeted.

“AVENGERS: ENDGAME JUST SURPASSED AVATAR IN THE BOX OFFICE.... OFFICIALLY THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE IN HISTORY MARVEL GANG LET ME HEAR Y'ALL MAKE SOME NOISEEEEE,” Another Twitter user stated.
