An edited video of “Avengers: Endgame” is making the rounds online for the way it represents everyone’s role in the Black Lives Matter movement.
Writer and podcast host Jemele Hill shared a clip of an edited “Avengers: Endgame” on Twitter. The fan-edited video reflects the Avengers battle against Thanos. Each of the character is assigned a certain role in a protest setting.
Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), who all appear beaten, are tagged “protesters.” Meanwhile, Black Panther represents the “Donators,” Okoye (Danai Gurira) as “Twitter Awareness” and Shuri (Letitia Wright) as “Petition Makers.”
Falcon (Anthony Mackie) arrives while flying up in the air and is dubbed “Batman.” Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as “Amish,” Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) as “Elmo,” Spider-Man (Tom Holland) as “Safety Advisors” and the “Black Panther’s” army as the “BTS and Kpop Stars.” Groot (Vin Diesel) represents “Instagram Awareness” while Valkyrie (Tess Thompson) stands for the “TikTokers.”
Meanwhile, Thanos is the “Police” and Wong (Benedict Wong) and his companion with their sling rings were tagged “white people using privilege as shield.”
The superheroes come together to battle the real threat that is Thanos.
“World coming together to take down the police and racists,” the message read.
Hill said she had no idea who edited the video but considered it “one of the best things I’ve seen on this app this week.” The post received a thumbs up from several netizens.
“This brought more emotion than watching the scene for the first time,” Donald Petty wrote.
“This pumped my faith in humanity,” one commented.
“#ProtestersAssemble This is brilliant! Bravo to the person that created this, we need to show this on TV as a PSA! #BlackLivesMatter,” another added.
“I've watched it ten times. Keeps getting better,” @SarahC_9243 Sarah Cullen opined.
“The Amish and KPop mentions got me lol. Was waiting on a Ben and Jerry’s mention, but this is perfect,” Spencer Althouse wrote.
Meanwhile, the person who edited it made it clear that the video was not meant to be political. The fan also wanted to keep a low profile and didn’t want to create a fuss.
