‘Avengers: Endgame’ Spoilers: Did Gwyneth Paltrow Hint At Pepper Potts Becoming Rescue?
Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t quite at Mark Ruffalo status, but the actress might have some trouble keeping Marvel’s spoilers secret. In a new interview, she once again seems to hint that Pepper Potts will become Rescue in “Avengers: Endgame.”
While discussing her exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Paltrow noted that she feels like she has aged out of being in a suit. The Goop founder, 46, certainly hasn’t aged out of Pepper’s business suits, so it would seem like she’s talking about a superhero outfit.
“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” Paltrow told Variety in this week’s cover story.
That adds to the evidence that Pepper Potts will take on her superhero persona, Rescue, and this isn’t the first time Paltrow has dropped clues. Last year, the actress posted clips to Instagram Stories that showed her in a motion capture pants. It would seem like she is going to be in a CGI outfit in the “Avengers: Infinity War” sequel.
In the comics, Pepper became a superhero using the code name Rescue. She found a suit of armor designed specifically for her, and it’s pretty much a customized version of the Iron Man suit that even includes an A.I. system. Fans will have to wait and see if “Avengers: Endgame” will give her a similar suit. If it does, she just might be the one to save Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) from space.
Considering Paltrow said she is leaving Marvel, it doesn’t sound like Pepper will be saving people on a daily basis. However, it seems as though she’ll survive whatever comes in “Endgame.” She said she’s open to returning, hinting that her character is alive.
“I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,” she said. “Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me.”
Of course, that does not guarantee her survival. Marvel characters are known for coming back from the dead.
Paltrow has played Pepper Potts since 2009’s “Iron Man.” In addition to appearing in the film’s two sequels, she also popped up in “The Avengers,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”
“Avengers: Endgame” hits theaters April 26.
