A baby girl in Texas died with 96 bone fractures in her body, an autopsy revealed Tuesday. Authorities said the child's parents were facing criminal charges in the death of the infant.

The girl, who was born prematurely at just 29 weeks, spent several weeks at a Houston-area hospital before she was released to her family on July 3, 2018. However, days later the child returned to the hospital with "clearly inflicted head trauma."

According to court documents, the child's parents told doctors that the baby, named Jazmine, had been acting strangely and wouldn't take a bottle. The newborn died on July 15, 2018. An autopsy was conducted and the medical examiner determined this week that the child had a skull fracture, nine contusions to her torso, broken ribs and other injuries to her arms and legs.

The infant suffered 96 fractures, including 71 rib fractures and 23 long bone fractures. The child's father, Jason Robin Jr., was charged with the murder of his daughter. The girl's mother, Katharine White, was charged with injury to a child by omission. However, local media reported that as of Tuesday, the child's parents were not taken into custody.

"He's a drug addict. We tried to keep Katharine away from him, and it didn't work," White's great grandmother Virginia said, expressing concern about Robin Jr. According to local media, Robin and his girlfriend shared a Houston home and had three children together.

"I called and asked what happened. Cause she told me she had to rush the baby to the hospital and she was having convulsions and all... and she passed away," Virginia said, adding: "It makes my heart break... It doesn't matter who it is. You need to be held responsible for the life of this child."

Child Protective Services has since removed two other children from the couple's home. One is in foster care, while the other is living with a relative.
