'The Bachelor' 2016 Casts Ben Higgins As Lead, Not Nick Viall
"After Paradise" host Chris Harrison is a cruel man. He promised viewers that he would be bringing out the next star of "The Bachelor." So, fans were shocked when the show returned from commercial with Kaitlyn Bristowe and Andi Dorfman's runner-up, Nick Viall. Fortunately Nick is not the next star of "The Bachelor." The new sexy and single heartthrob to watch in 2016 is none other than Ben Higgins, the 26-year-old software salesman who came in third place during Kaitlyn's season of “The Bachelorette.”
"I'm ready to get this thing started," Ben told Chris Harrison when he took the stage.
Although Ben is young, he revealed that he is definitely ready to find love. With a great support system at home and some of his closest friends getting married, Ben explained that he wants to start sharing a life with that someone special.
Ben definitely caught the attention of fans during “The Bachelorette.” Although some of the group dates were silly at times, the contestant always managed to shower Kaitlyn with affection and make her feel like they were on a one-on-one date. But it wasn’t until his episode 5 Texas date that viewers really fell in love with him. The two participated in a two-step competition at a local dance hall, and although they didn’t win, Ben told the cameras that he felt like he won anyway with Kaitlyn on his warm.
Their relationship progressed, and Ben made it all the way to the final three in Ireland. But his good looks and charm weren’t enough to capture Kaitlyn’s heart. She ultimately couldn’t deny the physical connection she shared with the other contestants, and she sent Ben packing in the most emotional rose ceremony of the season.
While Ben was heartbroken over the decision, he didn’t let his emotions get the best of him. He continued to defend Kaitlyn during the “Men Tell All” special when some of the other former contestants criticized her for some of her controversial decisions.
"The Bachelor" Seaosn 20, starring Ben Higgins, returns to ABC in 2016.
