“The Bachelor” star Bekah Martinez proved that true love is worth the wait, for she is now engaged to longtime boyfriend Grayston Leonard.
Three years after rejecting the 33-year-old gym owner’s first proposal, Martinez, 27, posted on Instagram a series of lovely photos cuddling with her now-fiancée and showing off a heart-shaped diamond ring, with the caption “YES.”
The post immediately received supportive comments and congratulations from fans. “The Bachelor” alums Kendall Long, from Season 22, and Maurissa Gunn, from Season 24, also extended their best wishes to the couple.
“Love, I’m so absolutely happy for you two love babes!!!” Long, 30, commented. While Gunn, 26, said, “congratulations,” with heart emojis.
It was followed by another post that showed a picture of them kissing and photos of the reaction of their two children. Martinez also teased that she would be revealing how he proposed “soon.”
“I can finally stop calling this man my boyfriend!!!!! I’ll tell ya’ll how he proposed soon, so stay tuned,” she wrote.
Before the announcement, the “Chatty Broads” podcast co-host shared a video on TikTok that said, “Wondering how my boyfriend’s going to propose. Remembering he already proposed to me three years ago and I said no, but still took pics.”
It immediately received a request from one TikTok user for a “story time.” Martinez then revealed in a three-minute video response that she and Leonard had an unexpected pregnancy back in 2018, which was very difficult to handle.
“My boyfriend [Leonard} and I got pregnant only three months into dating in 2018. So, we barely knew each other. The whole pregnancy was really difficult and really not fun, we were both really pissed at each other for a number of reasons,” Martinez said.
She found the proposal “sweet” but wasn’t anywhere near ready since there was “a lot to sort through” and the relationship wasn’t in “the best place.”
“I wanted it to be something special, that was the commitment that we both felt like we wanted to make to each other just between the two of us. Not having anything to do with our kids,” she further explained.
At the end of the video, she revealed that she was ready to get married and she could “foresee” the proposal happening soon.
Almost a month later, she and Leonard got engaged.
Martinez and Leonard share two children, daughter Ruth Ray, 3, and son Franklin James, 2.
