'Bachelorette' Finale: Katie Thurston Calls Greg Grippo A Liar In Tense 'ATFR' Confrontation
Katie Thurston questioned Greg Grippo’s “love” during the “Bachelorette” finale, calling him “a liar.” In a tense confrontation after her engagement to Blake Moynes on Monday night, the franchise lead spoke to her ex about their dramatic breakup last week.
Katie and Greg had a blowout fight during Greg’s Hometown date last week, just after the marketing sales rep introduced her to his family. It started when Greg told Katie “I love you” and she did not give him the response he had hoped for.
During their fight, Greg accused Katie of “holding things back.” Despite Katie telling him he was her “number one” and “this whole thing feels like it’s for nothing if you leave,” Greg decided to run away, telling her, “I deserve more than what I’ve been given on your side. I’m not happy here anymore. I’m done here.”
On Monday night’s “After the Final Rose” special, Greg told Katie he hoped they would “get back on the same page” but Katie didn’t want anymore. “You’re saying that I’m not validating you enough but it’s like, you got a first impression rose, you got a first one-on-one, a second one-on-one, every single group date,” she told him.
Katie went on to accuse him of speaking down to her during their breakup discussion and for “looking for the perfect opportunity to escape” after their Hometown Date, telling him “You were never ready for an engagement.”
“You say you love me, but I don’t think you know what love is, because that was a time I need you the most and you ran away,” she said. While Greg told her he wouldn’t have introduced her to his family if he didn’t think they’d get engaged, Katie continued to express her anger toward him, even bringing up rumors that he came to the show because he was hoping to launch an acting career.
“The way you said that you are so in love with me. I filled a hole in your heart and the small second that things got awkward for you and uncomfortable, you ran. You’re a liar. You did not love me. If you think that’s love, you don’t know what love is,” she told Greg.
Towards the end of their conversation, Katie told Greg there’s nothing she could do about what happened except continue to move forward.
“Yeah, I didn’t leave for you. My person was not Greg. When he left, so did everything I felt for him.” Greg and Katie parted ways after wishing each other the best.
