Banker's Ex-Girlfriend Allegedly Drove His $55K Mercedes Into Pool As Revenge
A banker in the Bahamas claims that a scorned ex-girlfriend exacted revenge by driving his $55,000 Mercedes-Benz into a pool on his property. Guy Gentile said the falling out with his Russian girlfriend Kristina Kuchma occurred after he failed to help fund her business venture.
Kuchma, a 24-year-old model, reportedly texted her Gentile on Oct. 7 after sinking the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid, the New York Post reported last week. Writing to him in broken English, Kuchma reportedly told Gentile that she’d left a “surprise” for him in his backyard. Gentile said that upon returning to his home the following morning, he found his car in the pool.
“My heart dropped because of [fears she was inside]. I didn’t care about the car at that moment,” he told the Post. “But after I realized she wasn’t in it, then I start to get pissed off that she would pull something like this after everything I’ve done for her.”
Gentile, 41, was accused in 2007 of a Wall Street “pump and dump” scheme, though Bloomberg reported in March that the banker maintains he is guilty of no wrongdoing. To avoid going to court, Gentile became an FBI informant.
The rift between the couple reportedly started after Kuchma requested a $50,000 investment from Gentile to get her marketing business off the ground. Gentile declined, as he’d already bought her a Gucci bag, a new iPhone, and new Beats headphones as gifts. He told the Post he also felt the request “blurred the lines” of their relationship.
Before asking for the money, the model allegedly told Gentile that she was “pregnant” before switching gears to clarify: “I’m not pregnant with a kid — I’m pregnant with an idea.”
They’d been dating for a year and a half at the time Kuchma requested the hefty sum, at which point Gentile decided to end the relationship. Kuchma allegedly threw hot tea in Gentile’s face before storming off with the keys to his Mercedes-Benz.
“I dumped her. She dumped my car,” Gentile told the Post.
The Post confirmed that a police report was filed for the sunken vehicle, which took more than four hours to remove from Gentile’s pool. Kuchma was allegedly the only person besides Gentile with access to the car.
Speaking with Business Insider, Gentile said: “I must accept some responsibility, if a woman is not crazy, she doesn't love you. And I must've drove her crazy for her to have drove my car into the pool!”
