Psycho
“Bates Motel” is pulling another character from the 1960 film “Psycho” for Season 5. Paramount Pictures

Get ready to welcome some new faces to White Pine Bay!

As “Bates Motel” fans are well aware, the A&E series is a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film, “Psycho.” The show has certainly taken on a life of its own in the four seasons that it’s been on the air, however, Season 5 will introduce a major character from the movie — Marion Crane.

It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July that Rihanna would be joining the cast as the fictional character, who was brutally killed by Norman Bates in the famous shower scene. But where there is Marion, there is also her boyfriend, Sam.

In the film, Marion, played by Janet Leigh, is unhappy in her relationship with Sam (John Gavin). When her boss hands her a large sum of money to deposit in the bank, Marion decides to flee town with the money. She trades in her car to throw off the police and ends up at the Bates Motel, where she meets shy motel manager Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Ultimately Sam and Marion’s sister, Lila (Vera Miles), go searching for her.

TVLine teased earlier this week that the series is looking to cast Sam. However, there is a slight twist. While Sam had nothing to do with Marion stealing the money in Hitchcock’s movie, the outlet reports that the TV version of the character is “the sorta sexy devil for whom a woman might consider embezzling a small fortune.”

As fans wait for “Bates Motel” to make the casting announcement, we’ve compiled a list of six actors who we’d like to see share the small screen with Rihanna:

Drake

Why not … this is our dream list! The connection between Rihanna and Drake is undeniable, and we’d love to see it play out on-screen.

Nick Jonas

We’ve been dying for more Nick Jonas acting roles ever since he starred in “Scream Queens” last year.

Shemar Moore

Shemar Moore is free to do other TV shows since leaving “Criminal Minds” last season. After playing a good guy for over 10 years as Derek Morgan on the CBS drama, we’d love to see how he’d do as a bad boy.

Wilmer Valderrama

Valderrama has certainly taken on some more serious roles since “That ‘70s Show.” We could definitely see him shaking things up in White Pine Bay.

Kevin Alejandro

Kevin Alejandro previously starred on “The Returned,” which was created by “Bates Motel” co-creator Carlton Cuse. Since “The Returned” was canceled last year, it would be cool if Cuse could pull Alejandro in to play Sam. However, he’s currently starring on “Lucifer.”

Joe Manganiello

Joe Manganiello definitely knows how to play the doting boyfriend role very well thanks to his time on “True Blood.” Although “Bates Motel” is no supernatural thriller, we’re sure Mangiello can handle himself in the dark town of White Pine Bay.

“Bates Motel” Season 5 premieres on A&E in 2017.
